TITLE by Ramaya Tegegne

So I am finally back from Germany. I picked up some things along the way that I thought I might show here. I bought some books at this store in Berlin called Pro qm http://www.pro-qm.de/ . The store has a lot of cool zines, mostly nieves stuff. They also have a huge selection of critical theory books and art books. I was there too long. Here's one from the spree.

The book is hand bound and kept together by a rubber band. It's about 100 something pages, folded.

This is one of the better books/zines I've read in a long time. It is essentially a treatise on titles of works of art, rather than the works of art themselves. There's a pretty eclectic array of great quotes by artists and theorists in here. There is a chronological line to the book starting with pieces from the 16th century all the way to the 21st. The formatting of the book is great but a bit hard to explain. Essentially it starts and ends with photocopies of the titles of works taken from art textbooks. Many of the photos of the art are cut off to emphasize the importance of the title over the actual work. There is a number next to each title which you use as a reference for looking up what content or quotes are associated with that work - that content is located in the centre of the book and printed in red ink. lovely aesthetic to this thing.

anyway, its an incredible little book. I hated it when it was over, but I'll read it again soon, there's a lot to it. Be sure to put down some bills for this one. Im pretty sure you can order it through Pro qm (link above) or Motto Berlin (http://www.mottodistribution.com/site/?page_id=1020 )

there are only 200 so think fast!
